Soldiers Of The Soil is the name given to the children who would assist on farms in north america during the era of the war garden. This term initially used for young laborers, motivated by their patriotism and desire to assist the war effort would ultimately become a slang term used by workers at the processing facility in Springdale for young individuals who stayed on the ground as they were unable to enlist due to their health, degree of literacy or because they were conscientious objectors. These individuals would ultimately become a crucial part of the HOM supply chain. As the procurement, production and distribution of these "Soldiers of the Soil" would become more widespread this would lead to the deveopment of a, for a time, not spoken of organization that would eventually become known as the Human Salvage Program or HSP.

The actions of Tyson and Baugh would not go unnoticed. Once they realized they had found a means of increasing the output of their facility with no traceable overhead cost and a seemingly endless supply of 'livestock' to be found as they would congregate at a nearby railroad track junction, the two men would be pulled aside by their supervisor who had been notified of an inspection by the FDA...
